japanese wood joinery got famous and admired world-wide. it is an amazing craft, connected with a lot of knowledge, high precision and patience. different precise worked out surfaces fit perfectly to their corresponding parts. the whole perfection can be seen in entire buildings, but its joinery, every single one, with its inside surfaces, is lost in its big whole.
I would like to bring this beautiful traditional craft closer to people. I want to give them the possibility to see beyond the exterior. “joint” is a series of three lamps, which encourages people to create lamps, using their own hands and intelligence without the use of either screws or glue. I want to enhance people’s love for details and the own questioning how ordinary things are made. it is not just a quick building practice – it is observing, feeling, experiencing and remembering while using the product.
